idd cologne is building on the success of its 2026 premiere with its ‘urban-only’ concept
Interior design week strengthens Cologne’s position as an international hub for the residential, workspace and contract sectors
Like in 2025, this year’s idd cologne will take place in an ‘urban-only’ format from 27 to 31 October. With ORGATEC held from 27 to 30 October at Cologne’s exhibition grounds, Cologne will, for the first time, host a comprehensive trade fair week showcasing modern working environments, contract solutions and high-quality residential interior design, whilst creating new synergies for the international interior and design industry.From 27 to 31 October 2026, the urban industry event for premium interior design will take place at Design Post Köln, at machwerkhaus köln and the participating showrooms and stores throughout the city of Cologne.
“Over recent weeks, we have held in-depth discussions with partners, exhibitors and industry representatives. A clear desire was expressed that idd cologne should be held as an ‘urban-only’ event. Companies from the residential sector wishing to focus on hospitality will still have the opportunity to exhibit in Hall 10.2 at ORGATEC,” explains Alexander Caspari, Senior Manager Trade Fair, idd cologne. “We are excited to combine the strengths of both formats through this new arrangement. It will allow us to create a shared platform that will deliver additional reach, new networking opportunities and valuable synergies for the entire interior design industry.”
A wealth of interior design expertise brought together in Cologne
The new schedule marks the first time that three key areas of the industry have been grouped together in this way – workspace, contract and residential. While ORGATEC focuses on the modern working world and spaces used for professional purposes as the leading international trade fair for these sectors, idd cologne showcases high-quality interior design concepts for private living spaces. By hosting the two events side by side, Cologne will offer a broad spectrum of products, services and inspiration, bringing together different target groups and stimulating fresh ideas and momentum for all aspects of interior design.
Urban concept remains central to idd cologne in 2026
With its urban focus, idd cologne is once again bringing creativity and premium interior design right into the heart of the city. The event format will again include the renowned Design Post Köln, the machwerkhaus köln and a number of independent showrooms and retail partners across Cologne. High-end home living and the latest interior design trends, materials and design concepts will take centre stage. The result is a platform for inspiration, brand presentation and face-to-face dialogue. idd cologne’s clear focus on the residential market makes the event highly relevant for premium interiors brands, trade visitors and design-conscious private visitors alike.

Design-oriented private visitors will have access throughout the entire event period to Design Post Köln, machwerkhaus köln, as well as participating showrooms and stores across the city of Cologne.

Interior-Woche stärkt Köln als internationalen Treffpunkt für Residential, Workspace und Contract
Die idd cologne findet in diesem Jahr wie bereits in 2025 als „urban-only“-Format vom 27. bis 31. Oktober statt. Mit der ORGATEC, die vom 27. bis 30. Oktober in den Kölner Messehallen ausgerichtet wird, entsteht erstmals eine ganzheitliche Messewoche in Köln, die moderne Arbeitswelten, Contract Solutions sowie hochwertiges Residential Interior Design zeigt und neue Synergien für die internationale Interior- und Designbranche schafft.Vom 27. bis 31. Oktober 2026 findet das urbane Branchenevent für Premium Interior in der Design Post Köln, dem machwerkhaus köln und den teilnehmenden Showrooms und Stores im Kölner Stadtgebiet statt.
„In den vergangenen Wochen haben wir intensive Gespräche mit Partnern, Ausstellern und Branchenvertreterinnen und -vertretern geführt. Dabei wurde der klare Wunsch formuliert, die idd cologne als ‚urban-only‘-Format stattfinden zu lassen. Für Unternehmen aus dem Residential-Bereich, die sich dem Thema Hospitality widmen möchten, besteht weiterhin die Möglichkeit, in der Halle 10.2 der ORGATEC auszustellen“, so Alexander Caspari, Senior Manager Trade Fair idd cologne. „Wir freuen uns, mit der nun geschaffenen Konstellation die Stärken beider Formate zusammenzuführen.
